Antique Neoclassical Hardwood Wall Table with Sphinx Pillared Base & Marble Top. Measurements are also in the photos, however they are 45” long, 31” height  and 19” deep, with a flat back for installing in a hall or foyer. 

An amazing rare piece of furniture heavily influenced by neoclassical / revivalist styles, with figures of sphinxes, mythical creatures with the head of a human woman and the body of a lion. This design element was popular during the 19th century, particularly in the Empire or Regency style, which drew inspiration from ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman motifs. The carved sphinxes were typically used symbolically in furniture to convey mystery, wisdom, or power. 

We know the elaborate carving on the base and central pedestal, shows craftsmanship typical of the 19th-century, we can’t pin-point if it’s European or American as there’s no marking or branded parts. 

Furniture pieces like these have gone to auction from $5k to $10k sold. We considered reaching out to an Auction house, but have decided due to its size and heavy weight, it would be easiest to sell locally, although at a reduced price. So here’s your opportunity to grab a wonderful piece of history!
